FGL teaches children about Jesus though face-to-face and remote Bible lessons. During the summer, FGL offers in-person games and hands-on Bible lessons at First Baptist Church of Benton, TN and at community sites throughout West Polk County. Every month, FGL volunteers send ministry bags to families in West Polk. The ministry bags include items to help children ages 3 years to age 18 improve their literacy skills through STEM and multi-sensory projects; all of these materials support an important Bible lesson.

During the summer, FGL delivers snack packs and family food items tp children's homes in Polk County. We also offer meals on-site at First Baptist Church of Benton, and at various places throughout the county. Added to that, FGL hosts a food pantry at Smyrna Baptist church and delivers food from the Chattanooga Food Bank to children every month, and we stock share boxes in the county. Additionally, FGL provides 100 snack packs at schools and facilitates snack pack distribution between supporting churches and schools.

FGL volunteers help families connect with local resources. For example, we help parents locate clothing for their children at places like Friendship Baptist's Clothing Closet, or People Helping People, food from other resources, cell phones from free agencies, etc. When local resources are unavailable, we elicit assistance from the wonderful people in Polk County. However, this is a poor county, and if you are receiving assistance from one group for need -- such as Christmas gifts -- you cannot ask for assistance from another group for the same need.
